Robert Shin, MD
Dr. Robert Shin is a graduate of Yale University and received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Neurology and his fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Shin is currently Professor of Neurology and Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. He is also the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Clinical Neuroimmunology Division in the Department of Neurology. Dr. Shin has a special interest in Health Disparities, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as well as Visual Problems associated with MS and other demyelinating disorders, including Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD).
Dr. Shin is a member of a number of professional associations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Virginia Neurological Society, and more. He received the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital SPIRIT Award in 2019. He was elected as a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology in 2016.
