Kelly Pieh Holder, DO, FACOG, FASAM, MA, IBCLC
Dr. Kelly Pieh Holder graduated from Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a bachelor’s degree in cross-cultural studies. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Maternal and Child Health from Vermont College in Montpelier, Vermont, where she conducted research in Somalia on infant feeding patterns and birthing practices. She earned her medical degree at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Blacksburg, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine.
Following residency, Dr. Holder practiced in rural eastern North Carolina at a community health center where she served as the Women’s Health Director. She also worked as an OB Hospitalist across the state of North Carolina. In addition, she was previously on faculty with the University of North Carolina as the Medical Director at UNC-Chatham Hospital Maternity Care Center in Siler City, North Carolina. Dr. Holder now provides obstetrics and gynecology services at UNC Chatham Hospital and serves as Chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Siler City, North Carolina.
Dr. Holder’s main areas of special interest include rural maternity care, addiction medicine, fetal alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Contraception, breastfeeding, and lactation. She also has served on committees relevant to obstetrics, gynecology, and addiction medicine, and has held various positions to improve the care and treatment of underserved populations. Dr. Holder has published in her field. She has also been on more than ten medical mission trips in seven different countries in Africa, Central America, and South America.
