Dr. Katheryn Hudon

DO, FAAP, FACOP

Dr. Katheryn Hudon practices Pediatrics just about everywhere it happens. She is Chief of Pediatrics and Associate Professor at Pacific Northwest University College of Osteopathic Medicine, a Hospitalist at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital and MultiCare Yakima Valley Memorial, and the founder of a school-based sports physical and vaccination program with the Yakima School District. Dr. Hudon began her undergraduate time studying Public Health and Music at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, finishing her Bachelor of Science at Central Washington University following the disruption of Hurricane Katrina. She completed her undergraduate medical education at Pacific Northwest University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Yakima, Washington, and her graduate medical education at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, where she served as Chief Resident. She is board-certified in Pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Hudon is equally passionate about her combined careers as a pediatrician, medical educator, and leader in academic medicine. She is a recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and a four-time PNWU Preceptor of the Year, with a reputation for talks that are evidence-based, candid, and full of advice you can use Monday morning. Returning to the VOCCME for a third year, Dr. Hudon brings the perspective of someone who gives vaccines, teaches vaccines, and answers for vaccines in the exam room and on social media, often all in the same week.

Dr. Hudon currently resides in the idyllic Palouse country outside Spokane, Washington. She works with Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital and is the owner and Medical Director for Pinnacle Wellness. Dr. Hudon thrives in the care of acute pediatric patients and seamlessly integrates care for the medically complex child and partners to build health and wellness in families as they grow. She exudes excellence in the medical care of the pediatric patient while also serving as COM Chief of Pediatrics, Associate Professor at Pacific Northwest University-COM, and Clinical Faculty for Washington State University.

By demonstrating her passion and capability for medical education, Dr. Hudon has been awarded Preceptor of the Year for multiple years in a row. Students selected her as a speaker for the “Last Lecture” at the Clinician Ceremony at PNWU. She is also distinctly honored to serve as the Division Chief of Pediatrics for Pacific Northwest University, where she has rebuilt the pediatric curriculum across all four years of training, delivering the bulk of the pediatric content to learners in a style that mirrors that of her clinical practice: compassionate, engaging, incisive, and holistic. With her unique combination of passion for medical education, leadership, medical expertise, and commitment to the well-being of patients, families, trainees, and colleagues alike, Dr. Hudon commits herself to enhancing academic medicine and clinical excellence, all in service of improving the quality of care for our most vulnerable and important patients: children.

Dr. Hudon discloses that she has no relevant financial relationships with any organization producing, marketing, reselling, or distributing healthcare goods or services consumed by or used on patients relative to the content of this presentation.
