Elder Mistreatment
This presentation will equip physicians with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, assess, and report instances of elder abuse effectively. Participants will learn to recognize the various forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, financial, and neglect, and will explore the risk factors that contribute to elder abuse in different settings. The presentation will detail the legal and ethical obligations of healthcare providers regarding mandatory reporting, outlining specific procedures for documentation and reporting to appropriate authorities. By utilizing real-life case studies and interactive discussions, this session will foster a deeper understanding of the complexities of elder abuse and empower physicians to take action in safeguarding vulnerable older adults. All physicians should attend this activity.
