Robert Hostoffer, Jr., DO
Dr. Robert Hostoffer, Jr. currently practices at Allergy/Immunology Associates in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He is also the program director of the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship, which achieved accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Osteopathic Recognition. He is a Clinical Professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Georgia, and is an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Hostoffer graduated from John Carroll University with an undergraduate degree in Biology. He then received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he served as Chief Resident in 1987. Dr. Hostoffer completed his fellowship training in Pediatric Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also earned a master’s degree in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, and an MBA from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Hostoffer is board-certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and in Allergy and Immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the Clinical Immunology Society.
Dr. Hostoffer has received numerous awards throughout his career, including being named “Top Doc” seven times by the Northern Ohio Live Magazine or Cleveland Magazine. Dr. Hostoffer also has been honored with numerous awards for his service, teaching, and precepting. Dr. Hostoffer’s special interests include primary immunodeficiencies, patients with recurrent infections (sinusitis, pneumonia, and bronchitis), and immunoglobulin (Ig) replacement therapy. His other interests include but are not limited to, asthma, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), atopic dermatitis (eczema), food allergies, and hives in both adults and children.
Dr. Hostoffer is a nationally recognized expert in immunodeficiency disorders and serves as the regional consultant for the Primary Immunodeficiency Foundation. He is a prolific author and presenter in the medical community. Dr. Hostoffer has contributed to more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, 14 book chapters, 160 abstracts/posters, and has given nearly 300 presentations. His extensive research and contributions continue to advance the field of allergy, immunology, and pediatric medicine. He has also served as the past president of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians and the Ohio Osteopathic Association.
